M.A.M, OR:
As I suspected, your pet fountain is a work of art. What I like best about it is how quiet it runs and how heavy and safe it is. Most custom fountains have resin on them which can be toxic to kitties over time. I also love that the filter is well hidden and unless my kitties start taking steroids, there is no way they can get to the filter! On the Drinkwells, I finally just gave up tossed the filters and the lids because I was finding both of those items in the strangest places (even the litter
pan)! Beautiful wonderful work and it came here perfectly intact.
Weeks later: I still love, love love your pet fountain. Oh well- at any rate I am sharing this exciting bit of news with people who I believe will care-
K.A., GA:
Cats prefer drinking water from a fountain, so I purchased a Drinkwell fountain in 2000. The cats loved it and so did I. I have purchased several fountains over the years.
Unfortunately, my cats developed plastic allergy symptoms -- licking or chewing all of their hair from their abdomen and inside both legs. Watching them constantly licking and chewing upset me because I knew how uncomfortable they must feel. I thought, “Someone must build a fountain using food grade plastic.”
Then I found your website. I know that ceramic is non-toxic. I received my fountain about a month ago. In that time my sweet Russian Blue cat, Sugar, has stopped chewing and licking. I looked at her belly today and the fur is growing back!!! It is about 1/8” long and I can’t see her skin anymore because the fur is covering it.
I am so happy that I found your website. Sugar and I say, “Thank you”.

All of our ceramic pet drinking fountains can be equipped with 3 different pump options:
- a low voltage submersible 40...90 g/h DC pump with a 4.5 or 6 volt DC power converter plug,
- a low voltage submersible 55 g/h DC pump with a battery pack (4 x AA or 4 x D-cells), or
- a 92 g/h 110 volt outdoor pump with 3 prong cable to use with a GFCI.
Explanations:
bowl-h = 5.7" -> height of the bowl itself, without the lid. This correlates with the drinking height.
d = 9.5" -> maximum diameter of the fountain bowl (diameter of the belly)
h = 9" -> height all together, bowl plus lid, untill top of the spout
Drinking height -> drinking water level above floor
Small pet drinking fountains: (The bowls of these fountains have a footprint of 7 inches, are approx. 5" to 6" high, up to 9" in diameter, can have a drinking height of 4" to 6" and they hold approx. 100oz (3 qt or 3 liter) of water.)

Our ceramic pet drinking fountains are custom-made items and NOT cheap industrial mass production. They are hand made by a ceramic artist and cat lover using a porcelain texture clay, certified NON-TOXIC and food/dinnerware safe glazes. We can provide Material Safety Data Sheets for both clay and glazes. They are lead free, guaranteed.
Advantages
Big Bowl: The big bowl holds from 0.6 to 2.5 gallons of water - so can be sized for even several pets. Because of the "thermal mass" and the bowl's surface, the water always stays at a healthy room temperature.
The bowl is covered by a lid, keeping the stored water in the dark and hiding pump and filter.
The wide floor area relative to its height and its "floor-centered" weight keeps the fountain from being tipped over.
Filter: Our fountains have two filters. The first filter is an easy to clean stainless steel mesh, catching hair, food, etc, preventing the pump from clogging. The second filter is a Drinkwell filter with a fine polyester pad and granulated carbon to catch the finer particles. The filter is well hidden in the bowl, easy to reach for you but not the pet - and simple to change.
We also offer the "Forever Filter". It's a reusable filter. When it's time to change the filter, simply empty and rinse the canister, add fresh activated carbon, and return it to the fountain.
Pump: Our standard pump is a 55 GPH submersible aquarium pump w/transformer. This pump runs with 4 to 12VDC and is UL listed. The transformer converts the 110V to a low voltage system, which is safe for pets. You may also opt for a battery operated pump or a 92 GPH pump with 110V and ground wire for use with a GFCI outlet.
We tend to use smaller pumps because, besides moving the water, the energy the pump uses also heats the water.
If your pet fountain's filter is placed behind the pump, you have to press the water through the filter, requiring a more powerful pump. This uses more energy than placing the filter in the backflow as we do with our flat filter. Using a "big" pump and a small filter behind the pump heats up the water (it's a physical law and you can feel it if you put your hand at the nozzle of the pump when you fill up your bicycle tire), so you have to install a "chiller" to cool it back down to room temperature. That's why we avoid using "big" pumps and small "inline" filters.
Spout:
We offer different types of spouts; bubblers like a little house or ball, free falling like the tower or stream (short fall) like the frog, lizard or flower. Our waterspouts are eye catching items, transforming your fountain into a piece of functional art.
Color:
You can choose the color of an existing fountain or choose from over 40 different glazes and combinations of these. All of our glazes are certified non-toxic and lead free. If you send us a sample of your wall paper or color scheme, we will match your colors.
Each of our fountains is lovingly hand built, then fired in an electric kiln to 2200°F; a vitreous high-fired pottery. The result is Stoneware, waterproof even without glaze. This ceramic is sturdier than earthenware. The coloration is a result of multiple layers of dinnerware-safe / food-safe glaze.
Why do animals love running water? In nature, moving water is much fresher than stagnant water. The movement constantly breaks the surface tension of the water and draws oxygen from the air into the water. This process is called aeration and it makes water more appealing to drink. Pets may be drawn by instinct to moving water for this reason.
Our Pet Water Fountains are a great way to show your cats and dogs just how much you care. Research shows that one of the best ways to improve your pet's health is to get them to drink more water. And the best way to do that is with one of our Ceramic Pet Fountains. By using a falling stream of water, our Pet Fountains continually aerate your pet's water with healthful oxygen.
That's just one of the many reasons why our pet fountains are more than works of art, even though, of course, they are also useable as decorative, environment-enhancing table top fountains.
Our ceramic pet fountains filters and aerates continuously moving water to keep it much fresher than standing bowl water. The falling action aerates the water and the movement is attractive to a dog's or cat's instinctive search for fresh water. It satisfies the urge for running water.
Our ceramic pet fountains have two filters, a pre-filter (stainless steel mesh) to catch bigger particles before they reach the inner fine filter, the reservoir and the submersible pump, and a 2-way or 3-way replacement filter to remove fine particles, bad tastes and odors, giving your pet the best possible - and most appealing - way to stay hydrated.
The charcoal filter we use are Standard Replacement Filter for Drinkwell Pet Fountains. They are a quick-change filter used to capture debris and filter water, keeping it clean and fresh for your pet. According to the manufacturer they should be changed every two to four weeks depending on the size and number of pets using the fountain.
Unlike plastic pet fountains that develop cracks, this drinking fountain is made from durable, nonporous dinnerware-safe glazed stoneware that mitigates bacteria growth. Ceramic resists bacteria, commonly found on porous plastic surfaces. The ceramic drinking fountain enables simple, thorough cleaning.
Each fountain comes equipped with a low-voltage pump and Drinkwell 360 filter housing & cartridge at no extra cost.
We create them in 5 different sizes, depending on the number and height of your pets:
Small:
The bowls of these fountains are approx. 5" to 6" high, up to 9" diameter, a drinking height of 4" to 6" and they hold approx. 0.5 or more gallon of water.
Medium:
These fountains are approx. 5" to 7" high, up to 10" diameter, a drinking height of 5" to 7" and they hold approx. 1.0 gallon of water.
Large:
These fountains are approx. 6" to 8" high, up to 11" diameter, a drinking height of 5" to 8" and they hold approx. 1.5 gallons of water.
XL:
These fountains are approx. 6" to 9" high, up to 12" diameter, a drinking height of 5" to 8" and they hold approx. 2.0 gallons of water.
XXL:
These fountains are approx. 6" to 9" high, approx. 13" diameter, a drinking height of 5" to 8" and they hold approx. 2.5 gallons of water.
If you decide on a custom-order pet fountain, please allow approx. 2 to 4 weeks for completion.
K.A., GA:
I have owned several Drinkwell fountains since 2000. I love the fountains, but hate cleaning them. The plastic has sharp corners that gouge and cut my skin as I clean. There are so many “nooks and crannies” that I never feel that it is completely clean. There are areas that, because of the shape, I must use a long Q-tip to clean it. I have six cats, so I clean the fountains often. I dread cleaning day.
I received my fountain one month ago. I have cleaned it four times. It is so easy. All of the parts come out of the bowl and I simply use a sponge and dish washing liquid to clean the parts and the ceramic bowl. It takes me just a few minutes and I don’t have to be so careful about not cutting or scraping my skin. I feel that everything is really clean and that there is no residue because I could not reach certain areas.
Thank you for making my life easier.
Over the years I have had several cats that were allergic to the plastic in water bowls. My vets have all advised me not to purchase plastic bowls. Liquid products (such as milk) in plastic containers designed for human consumption are made from food grade plastic so that we are not in contact with the harmful elements of plastic.

B.S. Phoenix, AZ:
The fountain looks great we are very pleased with it. The color turned out wonderful and It arrived completely unharmed thanks to the great packaging. Again, many thanks for such great work and we will be sure to share your information with our friends. Oh, the dogs are also enjoying it as well.
P.S. Goreville, IL:
You do nice work. We have an older cat that has taken over several sinks in our house every time we run a faucet so it's time to get her a faucet of her own. We received the fountain today in perfect shape and our cat loves it. Set-up was easy and the pump fired off right away.
N.S. Boulder City, NV:
I am sure that you know that you have a great product. I have looked at the Drinkwell 360, the Pioneer 6022, Petmate, Petco house brand, Catit, the Hammerschell, the Itsy Fountain web site. Yours is the best fountain, by far, due to the many extra features: 12 Volt direct current transformer, not using plastic bowl, overall quality, a far better pump, the mesh screen over the opening, choices of style, not foreign made, safe, ease of use and cleaning----as you already know. It is a good product and recommend by the Snufy and Express cat websites. Also yours is a beautiful work of art.
M.V. Coraopolis, PA:
Thank you Ebi. We love it !!!
C.H. Brandywine, MD:
It just came in the mail this evening and your website doesn't do it
justice...very beautiful.
D.R. Hammond, IN:
I just wanted to say how neat this fountain is. It's a shame it has to sit
on the floor. But Cushla and Ansel love it. And it's much, much easier to
clean than the plastic fountain we had before.
L.S. Wilmington, NC:
Just wanted to let you know that we received the fountain on Thursday. The quality of the
fountain is A+ and it is so beautiful. It took about 15 minutes of
stalking by both of our kitties, Ben and Charlie, for them to realize it
was safe and they could drink from it....they love it! Thanks so much...
R.S. New Milford, CT:
Hi Ebi. Just wanted you to know that the fountain arrived safe and sound.
My young kitty went right over to it and started patting the frog with her
paw. I think she wanted to play with it! Neither kitty has shown much
interest in drinking from it but I'm sure they will. It's so quiet! I had a
cheap plastic one before this that we could hear throughout the house.
Thanks again..it's beautiful!
B.D. Naples, FL:
Received your fountain about a month ago....and you have just sent one to
my friend.
I have been trying to catch one of my four cats drinking when I had a camera handy and finally caught one tonight. All four of them love the fountain. Two of them went to it right away, but the other two took them a few more days. Now all four drink from it regularly. Thought you like to see your work of art working.
V.B. Larkspur, CA:
We are very happy. It is beautiful and the cats, who believe they are royalty, tell me it's "about time".
L.N. Cannon Beach, OR:
Our fountain arrived perfectly due to your impeccable packing. The fountain is beyond our expectations. Beautiful and soothing and practical. The trinity of Art. Many thanks for a most enjoyable process.
